Can anyone recommend a book to teach you to Crochet?

Both these sound good but I'm open to any other suggestions:

stitch n bitch crochet: the happy hooker

or

crochet unravelled

They both have good reviews, I'm just wondering which might be best for a complete and utter (and I can't stress that enough, I know NOTHING) beginner. I want to put one on my Christmas list!
This is your fault Narketta and some of the ponces on the poncetastic Christmas thread who are knitting snow flakes and possibly the sweetest Robins I've ever seen Wink
Thanks Smile

Not knitting, crocheting obviously...

If you look on youtube, there are videos which will show you the basic stitches. I have certainly found that it is easier to watch someone crocheting, and imitate them, than to work it out from the instructions and pictures in the crochet books.

Of course, it could just be that I am useless at crochet. [hblush]

I have several books that I learnt from. Apart from the Stitch 'n' Bitch book, I also had Learn to Crochet (which incidentally has crocheted snowflakes in)

I think my favourite one was The Encyclopedia of Crochet Techniques. It also has a lot of patterns which is useful.

Good luck!

I bought stictch and bitch when I first learned earlier this year and I've found it really useful, I'm totally 'hooked' now, haha :o (sorry!!!)
