I'm no expert biglips but have heard good things of this London shop, which does mail order
VV Rouleaux

www.vvrouleaux.com

I think they do mail order, but it will be hard to check the colour online.

marina - even if you don't sew it is the most heavenly shop to visit, particularly around christmas time.

Marina · 13/09/2005 14:07

I have done the nose to window many a time. It is glorious isn't it otto? And set up by a mum who couldn't find everything she wanted in one outlet I think?

droool @ VVRouleaux.. haberdashery is my fave dept in Johnny Lou Lou's too.

otto · 13/09/2005 14:10

That's interesting because that's exactly what I would like to do with my future lottery win.

Moomin · 13/09/2005 14:12

just saw this on active convos - don't know if this site is any use? It's in the US but I ordered beaded trim for my blinds and got them to ship it over and I couldn't find anything similar elsewhere in the UK.

My lottery win dream retail outlet is a shop in the Square Mile selling children's clothes, gifts, full range of nappy sizes and basically all the things returners to work need to snaffle in their lunch hour and end up crying with frustration because they cannot find.
Not as glam as a glorious haberdashers' but hopefully I'd be mobbed by grateful working parents...
bundle, are you going to Ally Pally in October?

bundle · 13/09/2005 14:20

oh god, i'd love to, missed the last one for some reason i can't remember. also have knitting pal who's just moved back to muswell hill. is it good? would i find it too high-level? (too much intarsia and cables on a dozen needles)

Marina · 13/09/2005 14:23

I am more worried it might be a bit lacy courtelle, tbh. Did not go last year either. If you buy tickets a certain way Davros' school TreeHouse gets some much needed funds

bundle · 13/09/2005 14:24

will bear that in mind and ask my friend if we could make it an Event

aloha · 13/09/2005 14:29

Ha, how surreal. Was going to post something similar as want some grosgrain ribbon for my kitchen noticeboard!

I AM Martha!

May pop to VW Rouleaux this afternoon. I love ribbons!

bundle · 13/09/2005 15:21

it is truly a place of beauty. a bit like the scarves emporium in Liberty...just run your fingers along the tables....droool.

aloha · 13/09/2005 15:22

Slaver...

bundle · 13/09/2005 15:23

frinstance. you could even buy a cheap Primark cardi...and "Martha-it" with velvety bejewelled ribbons...slaver, slurpo.

aloha · 13/09/2005 15:26

Today I am mostly fantastising about those lovely bobbly trims for plain roller blinds...
