Curtain fabric - I have a question or two.

I'm having a footmuff and hood made for the pram, have found some lovely fabric but it's curtain fabric. So what's the difference in real terms?

Any ideas how it might wash?
Will it get softer with use?
Likely to fade?

is it lined curtain fabric? wih that rubbery type backing? if so it would be hot and sweaty and I would not use it, otherwise if its just very thick cotton it will be fine. would probably last longer than thinner stuff.

No, just a medium-heavy weight cotton. Feels harder, more coarse than regular cotton, I'm worried it will wash badly!

no it should be fine, it should wear better than something thinner.

It will be fine, in fact it would be axactly what I would use, it will wear well, stand up to lots of washing, and be insulating.

When I made afoot muff I made it from lovely corduroylined with fleece.

You're sure?
Hmmm, just worried about making an expensive mistake.

Oh goodness Tober, that fabric will be fine!!

I know that fabric, I use it all the time for bags and things, DS even has shorts made with that stuff (not the pretty floral stuff obviously!!)

It is ideal. Not an expensive mistake. You won't need much anyway, for a footmuff and hood.

Wash the fabric before you make up the footmuff and hood. Then you will know how well it washes (some fabrics shrink slightly on the first wash).
