Anyone made one? Any tips? Best tutorial? It's that or personalised bunting for the hundreds of kids I now know. Which would be easier?

I used this tutorial. It was actually pretty easy to do. I used dinosaur material for my dino mad toddler and it looks really good actually. [big head emoticon]Grin

I think bunting would be fiddlier.

How long did it take you? On another blog they used felt inside which seemed to negate the need for interfacing. How many crayons is optimal? Bearing I'm mind I'm making about 15!

Umm, I can't remember how long it took, but really not that long. Biggest faff was getting the little pockets the same width for each one - I'm going to buy a pen I can just draw onto the material with so I don't spend so long mucking about with pins next time. I think I took about an hour but honestly I'm so slow! Grin

I think you could get away with 8 chunky crayons.

There's a link for making it with just felt at the bottom of the instructions on that link.

Do you mean one you can draw on the outside with? How would you get rid of it? Would you use chalk or something?

Hi Bump - how are you and the new addition? And DD1? You can get marker pens that either fade away or come out if you wet the fabric - that or tailor's chalk if using dark fabric

Hello! We are ok. Tired & feeding still painful :(

Dd1 has behaved beautifully today, however that is an anomaly at the moment. She has been screaming & saying "no", not going to bed properly, waking in the night. And you know she is normally pretty good. She is fine with the baby though, just a little too affectionate.

You at yarn it next week? Is it on or is it half term?

Yep I'm there. On this week as normal. DS1 on full days at school now! Big change for DD1, she's a lovely little girl she'll get accustomed to sharing you eventually. Hard while she does though. Soudns like you are seeking refuge in crafty things!

Bumperlicious · 17/10/2010 18:27

I would be if i didnt spent the whole time feeding/holding dd2! any break i get is mainly for showering, eating or sleeping. missing my crochet :(

Its still early days sweetie, hang on in there. Come and vent on Friday...I'd ask you over before but I'm back to work tomorrow. Noooooooooooooo

mollymax · 17/10/2010 18:48

I have just made some crayon rolls. so easy to do.
I have also seen them made out of felt, using pinking shears to cut it. would probably be easier to use felt, but more expensive.
tailors chalk is good for marking.

Bumperlicious · 17/10/2010 18:59

thanks molly, have seen that tutorial. they are probably a lot stiffer to with all felt. might do a combo, line with felt.

Quiltingmama, oh no! gutting! are you looking forward to it at all? Good luck anyway. sorry we didnt get over before ds started full days. will defo see you friday. it'll be my sanity plus im sure i can palm dd2 off on someone so i can get some crochet done!
