Crochet Chat Anyone?

I have recently taught myself how to crochet and I am really enjoying it so wondered if anyone else out there fancied chatting about what they are upto?

I also thought writing down what projects I am working on would help motivate me to complete them as I seem to spend ages looking at ideas online rather than finishing what I have started Blush

At the moment I am working on a couple of hats for family, DD wants some more animals, and I really want to start some fingerless gloves for me and perhaps for others as xmas presents.

I also have a couple of books from the library on working with wire so I am eager to give crochet jewellery a go.

So does anyone else have some exciting projects on the go that I can add to my to do list? Grin

Hows everyone getting on? Have you got your yarn Niecle? I have ground to a halt a bit as am feeling a bit sick at the mo and am not very good at concentrating. However, I am going to a wedding mass this avo and was wondering if it would be rude to take my crochet as I am sure it will be a bit boring. I bet I could get at least 3 granny squares done :o

If anyone wants to follow my progress you can find my project here and a few other things I have made. Blush

anyone else on ravelry?

Hello! Yes I got my yarn. Tis very beautiful. Smile

However, OU stuff took much longer than it should and DS2 has been off school with a temperature so I haven't done anything with it. I did try and engage him in helping me to work out what order I should put the colours in as I think I am going to start with a ripple blanket. Some days he would have been happy to help and others he would just say it is girly and he only likes green. I'm afraid I got him in a green and girly mood so no help from him.

I was going to have a go at it this evening. Not sure I can use all 17 (plus 4 extras) I bought so maybe I should plan one granny squares on and one ripple.

Sorry to hear you are bored already rocketleaf! I have heard several people say that you should always have a couple of projects on the go at once so you can alternate. I have more than a couple Blush and knitted a bit of DS's jumper last night. I also have various hats and gloves on the go and a cardie for me so I will have trouble on that score.

Hope you managed to get a bit done in the church. Masses do on don't they? I have only been to 2 and one of those was in French and took 1.5 hrs!!

Hi can I join in too?

I taught myself how to crochet this year by watching you tube videos and I am addicted.

I just love granny square blankets and have made a couple but keep giving them away as gifts. I really must make one for myself. I am currently making a blanket for my DD - it is just one big granny square in pink, blue, green, yellow and white.

I just wish I had more time!!

I find loads of inspiration here www.flickr.com/groups/agrannyaday/

Hey esselle, welcome. hmm a granny a day. maybe thats how i do it. make sure I do at least one a day.

Niecle, I think you are right I probably do need to have more than one project on the go at a time. I might make a start on Mario as well. I think if I alternate between something sculptural and the granny squares that might do the trick. I didn't take my crochet to the church in the end, thought it might be a bit rude. The wedding was fun tho. really nice to see all my workmates in a social setting and meet their other halves etc.

hi everyone

quick post as I am supposed to be sorting the house and kids and not Mnetting.

I am struggling to find the time to crochet at the moment. I still have'nt finished sonic Blush

I am on ravelry but have only looked for patterns so far. I need to find some extra hours in the day and commit to it properly Grin

Would love to see how Mario progresses :)
I have tails to do next. I also want to have a think about doing some dolls for DD, she loves the disney princesses so I could sew some dresses for them aswell.

Must dash, screaming toddler!

Hello, how is everybody doing?

Thought I would just update as this is in danger of dropping off my threads I'm on.

Frazzledblob - hope you find some crochet time soon.

Rocketleaf - thanks for sharing your ravelry - love your squares. I will put my stuff on ravelry soon but I have so much that I haven't put on there that it will be a big job!

Now I have my evenings back, I think I have decided that I am going to do a granny stripes blanket with my pack of wool. I was going to do a ripple but I didn't like the pattern on Attic 24, it was different to one I had done before but the ripple I had before was too ripply (the ripples were too close together iyswim), I am looking for something a bit gentler. Anyway, couldn't find a pattern for that and I want to crack on so I am going to do a granny stripe to begin with. I did a few practice stripes on some cheapy wool I got off ebay and it is looking good.

Oh and I bought a few more colours from Masons to go with the 17 I bought before.....
