Hi

I am planning to make mugs for the family with DD's handprint on, but I'm not sure what paint to buy.

Marabu Ceramica is much more expensive, Folkart enamel cheaper, but I can't figure out if either are ok for little people to touch. What do they use in the pottery cafes, does anyone know?

don't know anything about enamel paints but you could scan a waterbased handprint and then use somewhere like photobox to get them made up.

how old is dd? we tried with ds when he was about 3mo and we struggled to get him to open his hand. it was VERY messy and not terribly successful.

Don't use enamel!!!

Anything you use needs to be water based so you can wash it off.

The pottery cafe's use water based stuff then glaze them to make the print permanent

please ignore the ' in cafes Blush

I know a few ceramic places that will provide kits to do prints at home...would they work? It's easier if you get them to do them though. They're practiced at getting good prints from babies

I did it when DD was about 5 months in a cafe, they didn't help at all really and I found it quite easy, so I'd like to give it a go myself (plus the cost...)
She's 14 months, so hopefully will be compliant!

Does this sound OK?
