waterproofs for sand and water table

Not sure if this is the right place to post! DS is 2 and has just become the proud owner of a sand and water table. Problem is, he gets soaked every time he uses it...and he uses it A LOT!!! I need something suitable for him to wear and have been looking on Amazon and Ebay but am not sure what is most effective/quick drying/best value. Any tips?

I know these are meant as bibs but they are fantabulous for everything else too

They look great but not sure they're waterproof enough, I have similar ones from Ikea but they ain't cutting it!

hmm

a plastic-coatted tabard or apron protects clothes but it just runs off onto the floor...

oh and the sillybillyz ones are waterproofed like rainwear on the sleeves and as a backing behind the fleece - much better than plastic-backed towelling bibs

I'd probably cut a head hole in the middle of an old towel and then either roughly sew up the sides or tie it with a belt to make sort of a long poncho thing. Then bung a plastic tabard underneath.

what is wrong with getting a little wet?

I have tried all the obvious, I even have school-style-tabards that i bought at a car boot. But it takes longer to keep putting the tabards on/off whenever they flit between activities than to change the wet clothes.

Now I just take their tops off & leave them too it! I keep a towel & spare cothes handy.
