big lips.

I just peeked on the site and saw a christmas card set for £17.99 + p&p.
The set had a pack of cards and three stamps. Some glitter glue and one ink pad.

You can buy a pack of anitas cards 25 for 4.99.
Anitas christmas stamps are £1.99 each ATM.
Ink pads for £1.99 and glitter glue for 75p.

Works out a lot cheaper if you look around.

HTH.

is this a good guide for me as a learner to do different types of cards

Hobbycraft is a great site, would also recommend www.docrafts.co.uk (Anitas etc), and www.artsandcraftsdirect.co.uk (good chat room with lots of swaps etc and advice- the docrafts chat room is great sometimes, but can kick off unexpectedly)

This Christmas I am mostly doing... Spirelli Christmas trees, shaker cards using pre-cut shaker boxes from EBay for the kids, and arts and craft holly wreath stamping. MIL has ordered 10 multipacks to sell at work, so will have to get going soon!

biglips · 26/08/2005 21:44

gosh its so much to take in (my eyes gone all funny!)... cant wait to start, as ive been looking on the Do craft website and there is a craft event near me doing xmas card making ideas and how to exactly do rubber stamping, embossing etc

Go to the Do-Crafts event, they're great for all levels but i think especially beginners. And take some cash- they usually do discounts on the day, and often offer goodie bags too!.

Have you checked out E-Bay yet? I got 25 card blanks for £1.99 inc postage (parchment style, scalloped edge) and there are loads of really cheap stamps and a fab range of powders on there too.

PeachyClair · 27/08/2005 10:40

Oh, and if you want a real experience, go on Arts and crafts and join the September swap, just post a message for Twinkletoes, it's a mainly Christmas theme: you send in six on themes they want with £2 and an SAE, they send you six by other people, a free gift, entry into a raffle and you get feedback on your cards too. It's for all levels, I love doing them.

biglips · 27/08/2005 11:40

thanks Peachy as ill stick to Do crafts for now as a beginner as ive already had a look..

i will have a look on Ebay today

biglips... hope you managed a couple of hours and a glass of wine! I have bookmarked that glass painted tree card too - but thought I could do the outline and my daughter (9) could paint and decorate for her christmas cards. It looks easy enough and quite effective. The grandies will be so impressed.

Thanks for mentioning the Do-Craft events Peachyclair. I have had a look and found a couple which I can get to easily. I will remember the tip and have cash for the bargains .

biglips · 28/08/2005 13:04

Kiwi - i also liked the glass painted tree too as ive not seen that type anywhere (or unless i havent looked yet) as i might have a go once i get the hang of the basic card making

why is this called teabag folded?

OP posts:
kiwibelle · 28/08/2005 13:28

I stumbled on the answer to your question somewhere biglips - but now I can't find it! Something to do with it being Dutch and the folding of the paper. I'm sure that doesn't help. If I come across it again I will remember to post (if someone much cleverer doesn't do it first).

kiwibelle · 28/08/2005 13:29

ok... googled it instead! From www.cardinspirations.co.uk/tech/teabag_folding.htm

The art of tea bag folding is said to have been born when a clever Dutch crafter decided to work with the decorative envelopes used to hold fruit tea bags. As the craft developed specially printed sheets have been produced with patterned squares ready to cut out and fold.

biglips · 28/08/2005 17:24

oohh right - i understand now as i couldnt figure it out why the "teabag" title but now make sense!
