Also for birthdays and xmas he has made a present so we have done decorated teatowels, hand print pictures, he made a teapot and plate while we were away and mugs for great grandparents but am now running out of ideas of things he can make for other people. Really need some inspiration he is quite good at gluing, sticking painting etc and i do have time to do things with him so please help with ideas.

Getting a cheap photo album, decorate the cover and then protect it with transparent contact paper? (Or whatever the name is for that adhesive plastic that is sold by the metre).

Get a cardboard back canvas get some finger paints, let him wet his feet on the pain and then allow him to walk over the canvas, if he does it in one straight line (with a single colour) it looks even better.

Salt dough in the style of gingerbread people with a ribbon to hang them from the christmas tree also are nice presents.

The Christmas decs one is nice. Each year we buy one for each child, then put the date onin magic marker- I already find them really full of happy memories, might make them this year.

We have done bookmarks, photos in frames made of funky foam and gems, and last year they made stained glass biscuits (ordinary biscuit mix, cut out the middle, add a few pieces of boiled sweets which you have crushed or broken up- use different coloursdfor the stained glass effect). We made them Christmas Eve to keep them occupied, and gave them out wrapped in cellophane.

At this time of year you could collect lavrendar and the last rose petals, dry together, and make little scented bags from net- bit like wedding favours. My kids love anything in the garden.

I like this site for things to make with the DS's

You could also decorate some glass jars with glass paints. I did this last year with my Ds's. We painted patterns on jam jars and then filled them with sweets for their aunties christmas presents. Sun catchers are good too.

They also decorated a couple of Paul Mason wine bottles and we use them as vases....they look really good and you cant tell that they were once filled with wine!!

Lavander Bags have been a bit hit with my 3 this year. The older tow (7 & 5) sew them themselves but even the youngest (just turned 2) is able to fill a ready stiched bag with lavander. I just do a simple square. Bought little ssquares to start off with but DS wore through his fav. trouser knees a few weeks ago. He begged me to chop them into shorts. I then used the bit I'd cut off to make camoflague lavender bags with my DD for his birthday - he was so chuffed!
