have searched it but it came up with some random film

how young a child could use it? DD just turned 3 but has quite good fine motor skills, she's been able to do lacing cars since 20ish months, threading beads etc.

can you get varying sizes (i.e. bigger holes = easier to use)

thanks

My first thought was ebay as that is where I bought some for DS1 many moons ago.

It only comes in one size as far as I know - 6 count (6 holes per inch). It is a variation of Aida fabric.

What you could do for a very young child is get plastic stuff which is more of a sheet than plastic but you can still use wool and a chunky needle for that. I'll have a look and see if I can find an example of the stuff I mean.

I would have thought it would be quite challenging for a 3 yr old but if the needle is threaded for her and somebody sits with her, she might be able to manage it. My DS did a DT club at school at 5 and isn't very coordinated and managed binca and a needle with a bit of help.

Finding the plastic stuff was easier than I thought it would be.

7 count plastic sheet

There is lots of binca fabric on ebay and my search also showed up these needles which which are nice chunky needles for children with no sharp point.

Try googling binca fabric and you should get loads of other on-line retailers like this one

ah thank you. I think the reason I couldn't find any was because I was spelling it wrong!

I did see one reference to 5 count which I guess would be slightly easier.

Do you know I didn't even notice you spelt it differently to me?!

That would be why then!

Binka was a cartoon cat wasn't he?

It is also known as aida these days- easy to get on ebay.
