Bad bloods

I had nuchal screening and blood done last week at 13+4.

The nuchal translucenct seems ok at .98mm but my blood results were poor. Free Beta-hCG 13.7 which is 0.4709MoM and PAPP-A was 1.308 which is 0.2717 Mom for those of you who understand such things.

My Downs risk was 1:946 which I think is ok because I am 38 years old but the trisomy13/18 risk is 1:86 which is not great.

It is too late for me to get retested in FMC. My own OB only said that she would be concerned. I was offered CVS but think the risk of miscarriage is very close to my risk of trisomy 13/18 anyway. Also she said both of those should show up on a 20 week scan.

I also had preeclampsia on one of my 2 previous pregnancies - it was a twin pregnancy though - and some liver problems on both previous pregnancies.

Any advice?

Over 14 weeks you're probably too late for CVS, if you decide you would like further testing it would need to be amniocentesis.

I don't know the blood figures at all.

There's an organisation called Antenatal Results and Choices with a website www.arg.org.uk - they can help you think through what you would prefer to do.
