So i have a 12 year old already but im currently about 10 weeks pregnant , I had my initial hospital visit thenother week did the urine test and blood test did the forms and patient history of myself etc medications I'm on usual jazz, but the midwife has booked a home visit for in 2 weeks time is this normal? Lol I find it absolutely bizarre and unnecessary, I HATE people in my space i have bad anxiety anyway lol. Can I refuse it ?

Congratulations...I am pregnant with my 5th and have never known of a home visit while pregnant for me or anyone else I know. Only after the baby is born to do the checks on new baby. I guess you could refuse it, it's your house. I wouldn't like it either there's no need

Our community midwives used to do the booking in appointment at about 8 weeks (which included blood tests etc) at your house, I didn’t mind as I could slip away from my laptop to have the appointment while wfh and didn’t need to tell anyone I was going anywhere. Also I didn’t mind them coming round generally.

you could ask what it’s about as you’ve done most of it in hospital already (blood test etc) and ask if it could be a phone call or at the antenatal clinic? But tbh I’d prob just go along with it, they might wonder why you won’t let them come to your house and also it’s only like 1 hour max out of your day, not the end of the world.

I know a new law passed recently where the government wants midwifes and health visitors to check and report on houses with propaganda stuff and racist / terror stuff in homes etc so if ur a far right supporter etc they report it to police and stuff now. I just find it weird lol either way she's not coming to mine but apparently they do a home visit to check how u are how ur support network is set up etc
