Think I might try this too. Along with extra folic acid - and vitamin D is supposed to be good I think

I feel like I've read so many journal articles about causes for chromosome abnormalities, in particular trisomy 21. What I concluded from the reading is that unless I can turn back the clock, there isn't a huge amount I can do to change the outcome of my eggs😞 . However, there was some evidence for the use folic acid (folate) and Co-enzyme q10, so anything that could help is a good shout!

Other things I am doing are trying to avoid alcohol ( I was a fairly regular drinker previously (one or two wines every other day before conception ), cut out coffee (I was only having 1 tea and 1 coffee per day anyway), less sugar (no snacking, less desserts ) . My weight and BMI are already good. I also have a healthy 9 year old daughter from my previous relationship. I don't smoke ,did a bit during lock down . I occasionally had a puff on a vape. But no more of that now !

oh and more excercise , just walking for now as I'm still recovering from TFMR...

Diet and vitamins can help egg quality (diet especially), but it would not fix an underlying chromosomal abnormality. We had one of our miscarriages tested and it was put down to chromosomal abnormality, we were then given chromosome testing, luckily all was fine and was just a glitch. We went on to have a healthy baby (I wasn’t taking Coq10 with that one). I have started to take it now, make sure you take the right form and to improve egg quality you need to change your diet.

Remember eggs are only half the problem, your husband needs to do his part too!!

I feel we’re very similar - I think I’m doing all I can but yes, I read everywhere that the eggs just are what they are :(

it’s so hard not to assume every egg with have Down syndrome. I just don’t get why the first pregnancy would have it if it’s so random. Such a minefield!

if we don’t get pregnant this cycle I think I’ll start taking the coq10.

I was told it takes at least three months for vitamins and diet to have an effect. I’ve been doing it a couple of months now and I have slipped up on the diet a bit. There were just so many things I had to factor in, it was like a military operation!!

What diet advice have you all followed @Revelatio . I've read that you can take ubiquinol instead of co enzyme Q10.

Also regarding your comment on eggs being half the problem- I couldn't find much to suggest that the sperm plays a role specifically in chromosome abnormality. It certainly has a role in general fertility. Just wondering if there is any evidence you've found to back this up? My partner smokes and if there is some evidence it might make him more likely to quit ....

both my husband and I take the proceive max from boots . You can get a female and male version.
