High risk after combined but all levels ‘good’

Hi, I’ve just had a high risk 1/143 for downs. I’m very confused because all our levels are ‘normal’.
It is an IVF pregnancy but I was told this doesn’t affect the results. I was 32 when eggs were collected.
NT was 1.6
hCHb was 3.31 MoM
PAPP-A was 0.97 MoM

We have just had the NIPT but I’m wondering if anyone else has had ‘high risk’ when everything seems ‘normal’

thank you

You're only just high risk, the cut off is 1/150. It's probably your age that has tipped it over. Best of luck.

At my last pregnancy, I was told my age alone (46) would have tipped me into the high-risk category. All was well.

Hey OP. I was also high risk 1 in 137. That as given due to age (39), BMI and my bloods. NIPT come back low risk. It’s a horrible wait (7 days) and I was going out of my mind but the cut off is 150 so you were only just under. Try to keep your mind occupied and think positive x

I’m just so confused because all my levels are good, and maternal age is only 32!?

It's the ratios of hcg to papp a that will have pushed the risk up. Your hcg is high relative to papp a. Both are normal though as is the NT (which is the biggest factor for downs risk) as others have said its only just 'high risk' though, the likely hood of getting a positive NIPT based on these results is very small. The combined screen is just an algorithm based on averages x

@Chasingbaby2 you’re right. I’ve looked into the numbers and yes my hcg is slightly high. I was confused as the screening nurse simply said my number were ‘normal’. It makes much more sense now which is actually reassuring. Sorry for being somewhat ignorant

You are welcome and no problem at all, I remember the late night googles when we got a high risk result. Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy

Hi OP, I got given similar odds, 1 in 147, this is a IVF baby as well, I'm 28. Did you get your results back? Hopefully, it was all clear for you x ( I haven't received my nipt results) I hope I get them soon! The wait is driving me insane

crimpdad · 16/06/2024 10:37

@ChicPanda I had my blood taken on a Saturday and my results were in by Friday morning. It was all low risk. I hope you get your results soon, the wait is awful xxx
