Hi all,
I’m new to mumsnet but am looking for those who may have experienced similar.
I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have been having growth scans now for a few weeks, initially due to a small fundal measurement.
The first couple of scans were all fine regarding growth (24th and 30th percentile) but at the second scan it was picked up that the PI level (blood flow from placenta to baby) was high. This resulted in a visit to triage for monitoring.
Since then I had another scan during which the PI level was fine. However, yesterday I had another scan and not only was the PI level high again but the baby’s growth has slowed and is now at the 12th percentile (estimated to be weighing 4 pounds).
At the minute they just want to do extra monitoring in the form of more weekly scans, alternating between looking at PI and fluid levels and measuring growth. They have also said to be extra vigilant around movement.
I know these things can be inaccurate but just wondered if anybody had a similar experience? If so, I’d be really keen to hear from you. My first baby was 7 pounds 12, born 5 days overdue so this is a very new experience for me!

I'm at 38 weeks, similar story. At 31, growth fine but PI high. 34 weeks growth and PI fine. Latest at 37 showed growth slower at around 10 th centile but PI still fine. Estimate 6lb so not that small really. Not exactly the same as you but I do understand your concerns. Having done my own research, with the cord pressure the real concern is if blood flow starts to become intermittent or reverse, and with growth things are a bit grey with scan estimates anyway so it's a wait and see situation there but 4lb at 33 weeks doesn't sound too bad.
With growth they will flag if you get below 10% but static will be more concerning than slowed if that makes sense.
Personally I'm not too worried about the centiles as the data will be inflated based on your previous bigger baby (mine was same as yours!)

Yeah I've had the induction talk, but when I pressed for why it was only really due to smaller babies might not cope so well during labour. I've declined because I don't see how induction makes any sense as that process is more stressful for both of us than the natural homebirth I have planned. So I'm hoping to go naturally in the next couple of weeks and avoid the overdue conversation but let's see.
Yes blood flow to brain is good to check, they've done that at my scan too.
I've read all the studies that back up the induce early recommendations and it seems like below 3rd centile is more risky, or declining growth plus other concerns like low fluid and things like that.
Most trusts are very quick to induce for any old reason so im remaining sceptical and asking allot of questions at this stage.
