Doppler ultrasound

I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had a Doppler ultrasound last week, my consultant wasn’t happy so I had another scan today which he still wasn’t happy with, he has said I will have to have weekly scans to see the blood flow to baby and keep an eye on it,

just wondering if any other mums have been through this and what was the outcome? What happens if the blood flow keeps reducing?

don’t want to freak myself out with google so wanted to ask other mums who have been through it!

thank you in advance!! <3

Sorry you’re going through a stressful time. I know how it feels and I really do sympathise.

I had abnormal Doppler readings from about 28 weeks if I remember correctly and was given Doppler scans weekly after that. Readings continued to be high on each scan but they weren’t concerned as the blood flow was present.

At 34 weeks the blood flow was found to be ‘absent’ in the cord which doesn’t mean literally absent apparently. You can go for a week with it ‘absent’. They admitted me to hospital and I was given steroid injections to get baby’s lungs up to speed before I had a c section 2 days later.

My baby is now a healthy, although small, 7 week old. The doctors and midwives will keep a good close eye on you. It’s quite common apparently, around 1 in 10 mums have abnormal Dopplers.

Wishing you all the best of luck xx

How are you both now @Carissa2811?

Hi Ladies,

Can anyone shed any more light on the doppler ultrasound?
I'm having one next week, I'm 36 weeks and they want to check blood flow around baby as I have rising red cell antibodies.

Anxiety is crippling waiting until then. Everything else so far is in our favour. Heart rate etc.

Thanks ❤️
