NHS combined test result

Hi ladies,

I’ve just received the NHS “combined test” result for T21,T18 &T13. It says it’s a “lower chance” result of having condition. I’m just confused that does it mean there is a “low chance” result which is better than mine? Do I need to do a NIPT test privately for it to check again?

Here are the datas and I’m over 35 years old:
Risk of T21: 1:5000
Risk of T18 & T13: 1:5000
NT: 1.62mm

Many thanks in advance.

No, the results are reported as either “higher chance” (higher than 1 in 150) or “lower chance” (lower than 1 in 150). There are
no other categories. You would not be offered NIPT unless your result is “higher chance” (higher than 1 in 150). None of this guarantees that your baby does or doesn’t have the conditions listed; it is simply a chance based on some stats.

You're stats are great IMO. I'd take these, and in fact DS1 was 1 in 5000, when I was 35.
I got 1 in 183 this time round, missed the NHS cut off so private NIPT it is, and awaiting results. X
