Got a call today that has caused me quite a lot of distress.
I couldn’t have the combined test @ 12 weeks as baby was in the wrong position. Had the quad test last week instead and it’s come back as 1 in 13 chance for downs which is high risk.
I believe quad test can be in accurate so just wondering if anyone had a high risk quad test that ended ok?
I’ve had a NIPT test, it’s going to be a long wait till I get the results.
Any reassurance greatly appreciated

Hi, I had different tests, but after an early scan, my risk for an anomaly, most likely Downs, with my daughter was 1 in 11. I had gone to see Prof Nicolaides, who is a national expert on testing, as my age made me high risk.

I had all the tests that were non-invasive, but we decided we wanted the baby so much we wouldn't have any invasive tests. We decided we would deal with a baby with Downs if that happened. (I realise that wouldn't be everyone's perspective of course)

A 1 in 11 risk of a particular problem still means that there is a more than 90% chance that there WON'T be that problem. I found that a more helpful way of thinking about it.

I also found it helpful to acknowledge the possibility but then "put it away" until there was a more concrete problem to deal with.

DD is now 11 and is very bright - I'll spare you the details, as a proud mum - and has no problems of that nature at all.

Good luck.
