Diagnosed with GD so changed my diet but now the baby is not gaining any weight and dropping in percentile. Is this normal?

Baby was at 60th percentile for overall growth but got diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 25 weeks. She was measuring two weeks ahead at 27 weeks. I’ve cut out sugars completely and am maybe also eating less carbs from my diet. My glucose levels are well below 140 most of the time. The doctors are happy with this and told me to keep eating like how I do. But the thing is my daughter has dropped in percentile she’s now at 40th percentile overall. She has not gained any weight at all in 2 weeks. She now measures on correctly for 29 weeks. But I’m scared I’m not giving her enough food. This is the third trimester and she should be gaining the most weight now. Also my weight has also stabilized. I’ve only gained 10.5kilos overall. My bump is not that big and ppl ask if I’m in my 5th month but I’m actually in my 7th

Measurements of baby are much more reliable than weight. So if she is still growing in length and elsewhere in proportion I would not be worried especially if your consultant isn't.

Bump size again isn't directly linked and there is still time for you to get bigger.

I had GD and put on 2kg overall by end of pregnancy and came home 3kg lighter than before pregnancy, so again I don't think your weight gain can be linked directly to weight of baby as they likely won't weigh more than 3.5/4kg so the extra weight you are carry is a mix of placenta, fluids and of course possible fat on your own body.

I know it's easy to get worried as GD becomes life consuming and overwhelming when you really just want to relax and enjoy the end of your pregnancy.

Try to do this and not worry unless the consultants or midwives give you any reason to and starting planning your first post birth meal!
