It's a table showing how sensitive (likelihood of picking up cases of these conditions) versus how specific (ability not to include false positives).

The more sensitive a test is (ability to pick up true positives), the less specific it can be (it will be more likely to include false positives) - when tests are created they need to find a balance between the two, depending on whether it's more important to find cases, or more important not to include false positives.

The NIPT test is good at identifying cases of Down Syndrome. It's not so good at identifying Edwards and Patau.

Even if you get a positive result on the NIPT, it still might be a false positive so you should still have an amnio to confirm.

Even if you get an negative result on the NIPT there's still a tiny chance the baby will have DS.
