Hi everyone

I just wanted to come on here and share my story for people probably frantically searching the internet like I was when I got my screenings results.
Bit of background - im 32, second pregnancy (previous loss at 12 weeks due to abnormalities) my results from my screening came back as 1 in 45 chance of downs - 1.7mm nuchal, 0.37 Papp-a and high hcg (unsure of the number). Obviously when I got the results I was heartbroken, I was offered the NIPT the following day which I had and my results took 8 days to come back. I had the call to say it's come back as low risk for everything, and this is 99.999% accurate. I cannot tell you the sheer relief when I received the news as I thought my changes given my young age were really bad and given my history I'm prone to expecting bad news.
I just wanted to share this incase anyone is going through similar and to show that there are positive outcomes. Xxx

Congrats on a good result!

Just so you know, independent of risk for DS, your bloods give you other risks. Both low papp-a and high hCG give you risk of preeclampsia, low birth weight, pre term birth, still birth.

I had this, but only one blood at a time (1st pregnancy- the Papp-a, 2nd pregnancy now-thr hCG) was outside limits. You have both and lower papp-a than I did. Hope they told you to take aspirin from 12 weeks (they gave me 150mg per day evening meal) plus extra scans during the 3rd semester.

for me it meant baby didn’t grow for the last 4weeks and I was induced at 40 weeks, they were worried bc she ran the risk of being stillborn. she was born very small. They picked it up bc I had these extra scans. She’s been fine since and she has no issues.

if they haven’t told you anything, raise it with them asap. There is a window where taking aspirin helps (best to start it at 12 weeks, but no later than 16). For the first pregnancy I saw the consultant late, I was already 16 weeks when I started taking it so maybe it didn’t do much, or anything to help my DD.

good luck with your pregnancy
