Low risk combination test

Hi, I have been given a low risk for Downs 1/5300 and Edward’s/patau’s as 1/2300. I would have just turned 44 when I give birth.
The nhs won’t offer any further testing, wondering if I should privately book a harmony test. I am based in London, bit overwhelmed when trying to select a clinic. As the harmony test is not 100% accurate , I am not sure if it’s worth pursuing. Anyone have any similar experience?

They are really low odds, I would be happy with those! That would have been adjusted for your age as well as I understand it and I'm guessing the NT was good? So I think that is very reassuring. I had combined test results that fell into low risk (I had just turned 44) but were 1:500'ish, so I had nipt privately because NHS wouldn't offer. Unfortunately the nipt came back high likelihood of T21, so even though the cost stung at the time I'm so glad I had it. As I said though, you are much lower risk than my combined came back so I don't want to worry you with my experience- but, nipt would give peace of mind and I'm guessing there is niggling worry or you probably wouldn't have posted? It's so much more accurate than the combined test. Either way, I wish you all the very best xx

Hi, thanks for replying. I spoke to someone from ARC who talked me through my results and really reassured me.
She said my hormone levels were bang on,the nuchal measurements (1.6mm) were all pointing to a normal baby, my age of course is also used in the risk assessment. She also said a further 50% of DS is picked up on the 20 week scan, so another test which will help. She also mentioned she speaks to lots of women in their late 40s who come back as very low risk. So age isn't the overriding factor as we are led to believe.
However on these forums there are so many ladies with false negatives and false positives. I think even if I was 30 yrs old I might still have a niggle....

It won't hurt to get further testing to have abnormalities ruled out, but I would certainly feel encouraged by the figures you were given.
