Hello, i have a combined nhs svreening test at 13 weeks 3 days and results were following
Down syndrome: 1 in 5200

I wasn't very satisfied with the results so opted for a nhs version of nipt test and results were following
1 in less than 10000.

I am confused if less than 10000 could also mean below 5000 or further below. Apologise if i sound dumb.

Nipt results only go to 10,000 so they are saying that it's less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of any issues. So could be a 1 in 20,000 etc......

You have no need to worry with those 2 results. To be honest with your combined screening result I wouldn't have been worried.

Slightly worried as my nt was 2.10 mm at my 13 week scan. Which was the main factor to take the nipt test. As with my early pregnancy my dd had 1.10mm nt and screening results said clearly negative for all the 3 trimosy.

It wouldnt say clearly negative, it always gives you a risk. Its a not a diagnostic test, none of them are.
NT measurement norm varies by the week of pregnancy. It would only be comparable if you had both scans on the same day. Still wouldn't mean much as a different sonographer etc.
There is nothing to worry about with your results.

Not entirely what do you not undertand on less than 1 in 10000?

@AshiSaeed are you sure your results say
1 in less than 10000
or do they actually say
less than 1 in 10000?

AshiSaeed · 22/07/2021 09:15

Sorry I just checked my letter again. It is less than 1 in 10000. Does that mean the risk could be below 10000? Eg. 5000 or so ?

No, it means less than 1. So your odds are 1 in 10,000, or 0.5 in 10,000, or 1 in 25,000, or any other combination. Basically your risk is very low!

Thanks for explaining! I get it nowSmile
