1:2 downs risk post 12 week combined test

Hi all

Looking for some hope during a bleak time.

13 weeks pregnant tmrw and booked in for CVS.

Last thurs our 12 week combined test at kings came back with some scary results.

2.8 NT
0.89 PAPP-A
3.27 hCG

I’m 36.

We were given 1:2 result for downs and warned about potential heart issues.

I feel completely heartbroken.

I have had the harmony test 17 March but it came back inconclusive. FMC re-run this on Wednesday last week. Am I right in thinking the results won’t be much different to the combined 12 week test at Kings?

Any advice welcome!

Thank you

I mean postnatally! Not antenatally

Trying2stayhopefull · 25/04/2021 20:27

@DeloriousDelilah @Ds213 thank you both so much.

I am feeling ok about tmrw. I know what TJ except (physically) after having the amino so that takes the unknown fear away.

As for the results the age old cliche of time being a healer has rung true.

Honestly thanks again so much x

Cabbage???? Wtaf was my phone doing?!?! Sorry ❤️❤️

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck. Be kind to yourself, particularly around any decisions you make. Give yourself time to get used to whatever the results tell you if you can. Remember to keep the test in perspective too - all they can tell you is the number of chromosomes that are there; it’s not a crystal ball and can’t tell you anything else about what the future looks like beyond that really, and that’s true whatever the results say.

x

@Trying2stayhopefull I had confined placental mosacism with DD2. The CVS showed trisomy 16 but the amnio was clear. DD1 has Down syndrome so I've been on both sides. I hope everything goes well with your amnio.

Whoops spotted my typos too!

To not TJ and after having CVS not amnio!

Just waiting now - thanks again for everything.

@Trying2stayhopefull Did you get your amnio? Have you received the results?

I read the whole thread and I’m sending lots of positive vibes! ❤️

Hi

Thanks for checking in.

Sadly it wasn't the ending we prayed for.

The amnio came back to tell us our baby had full DS chromosomes.

We made the hardest decision and decided for us as a family that a medical termination was the best option. It's been so hard. Of course we have felt full
Of many emotions including guilt.

We made sure we spoke to many people from mothers, siblings and those with DS. Right through to doctors, genetic doctors, neo doctors. It wasn't an easy decision or option.

Thank you to everyone that supported with information and messages.

@Trying2stayhopefull Try not to feel guilty. Only you and your partner know what’s best for you.
I feel really bad for you, and I’m sending you lots of love.
Try to be nice to yourself, it’s not an easy decision at all.

SarahD19 · 08/05/2021 16:22

@Trying2stayhopefull I am so sorry you have experienced this. You have made the choice that is best for you and your family. You’ve absolutely nothing to feel guilty for. I really hope you’re ok and have support around you xx

@Trying2stayhopefull
Thinking of you and the rollercoaster of emotions you and your family are experiencing right now.
You’ll provide a beautiful loving home for a baby in the future that will be fulfilling and joyful for both you and your future child.

When going through my own experience so many studies I read most families opted for termination. You are far from alone in this 💕

DS213 · 08/05/2021 20:41

@Trying2stayhopefull only you know what the right decision was for you. Even as someone who has a much loved daughter with DS I’m very pro choice - you didn’t make this decision lightly and it is the right one for you and your family. Sending a lot of love and best wishes to you all.

Thank you all so much. X
