Hi lovely Mummy's, really need encouragement today, this is my 3rd pregnancy and after a really wonderful 12 week scan seeing my sweet baby. Got a call 2 days later to say I am high risk for Downs (1 in 143 chance) and Edward's (1 in 243) For my last 2 it was 1 in over a thousand so this really came as a shock! Not only that I have low Pappa-A so am taking aspirin every night to support my placenta. Keeping all this quiet from friends and family as I don't want the pressure of keeping them posted and dealing with their reactions to the news. So feeling very overwhelmed right now emotionally and have opted to take the Iona test on Monday (NHS version of Harmony) to get a better idea of what my chances really are.

Positive stories or any words of comfort or encouragement would mean so much right now.

Thank you! xx

@summerhillgang I think you'll be fine, honestly. Just for reference with my t21 baby I had a Papp-a of 0.4 and HCG was 8.6. Your age and slight hormone changes will be the biggest factor in the high chance combined test.

@summerhillgang, how are you getting on? Been thinking of you this week. xx

Aww thank you. Up and down tbh. I do feel very connected to my baby, and know I am going to love her whatever chromosomes I get. However at the same time I just want the best for her in life so am hoping for good news and keep thinking it a 30 year old got my measurements then the risk would be 1:2000 or less. I do keep thinking what have I done to have a Papp-a result which feels low. I am worried she's a bit on the small side but I think it's cause I had the test at 12 weeks on the dot. Then was concerned cause she was sleeping at first and I had to jiggle myself around to wake her up, then she started moving around a bit and kicking but you hear of some babies doing like back flips on the ultra sound... it's my first so I don't have any reference points. She does look perfect to me though 😍

MumOfMiracles · 30/03/2021 17:17

Oh you know it's a Girl?! 🥰 Bet you will soon hear! No the wait feels agonising but am so hopeful for you! Found out my Mum was high risk when she had me and one of my Sisters who was 37, my age now. All turned out fine for them, so age is weighed in as a big factor. Mine was 143 chance for DS and 243 for Edward's, all 3 were low risk. So hope that gives you some hope aswell as the messages from the other Mums on here. I am low papp-a too, decided though to the best of my ability not to sweat about it. Just stay healthy as I can and take my aspirin in the evenings, then just believe for the best. As panicking which tends to be my default won't help me or my sweet girl. Just counting down to 20 week scan now as itching to see all is well. This whole thing is a massive test of patience hey lovely? Here for you anytime you need or want to reach out by pm or on here. You are not alone in this! Xx

Also some babies do sleep through the whole scan I heard from the sonographer that did mine, so don't worry. Just caught her having a nap, bless her! Probably tired from the somersaulting! 😘

Yes I'm pretty sure it's a girl from skull shape and nub, I've been studying these forums for a while! I don't mind either way, but this week I felt I needed to connect a bit deeper to who's growing inside me. Coping strategy! Haven't mentioned to anyone else. I feel so much love for her, it's crazy.

I upped my dose of aspirin from 75mg to 150mg, so hopefully this helps.

Yes really hopeful for the 20wk scan and just found out my partner can come which is a huge relief. I absolutely hated going to the last one alone.

Going to have some acupuncture tomorrow which will hopefully help with my stress levels x

summerhillgang · 30/03/2021 18:50

Also thank you for caring @MumOfMiracles - it's really warming my heart to know someone is thinking of me x

MumOfMiracles · 30/03/2021 19:18

More than welcome lovely! Glad I can be of support. Did you go for the Iona test? Am sure you are but was just wondering if you ticked the box to find out gender? That is how I know I'm expecting another Daughter. 🥰

Safe test but decided to leave as a surprise at the time, kind of wish I had ticked the box now! I quite like guessing though x

Mummy2O · 30/03/2021 19:51

Keeping everything crossed for you @summerhillgang.

My little one was rather still at the 12 week scan. I kept having to go for little walks and had to empty my bladder a little bit twice (how hard is that to do!!) to get him in the right position for them even do do half of the measurements.

MumOfMiracles · 30/03/2021 20:44

Aww and you always have the option to find out at 20 weeks if you wish or wait for the big day and find out then. 🥰 Hope the acupuncture is helpful for you. Are you expecting to hear back this week? xx
