Hi @Ren369,

I'm sorry you're finding yourself here.

I had a CVS in February and it was uncomfortable but necessary.

I hope you have a good outcome.

You can always give ARC (Antenatal Results and Choices) a call. They're amazing.

TheMumblesofMumbledom · 10/08/2020 14:50

I've had one, as said above it's uncomfortable rather than painful.

The following day or so you might have period pain type cramps and you'll have to send a couple of days resting.

Good luck, the worst bit of it for me was waiting for the results phone call

Ren369 · 10/08/2020 14:55

Did you have it through your tummy?
I'm so nervous of needles. Even the pain relief injection lol

What was the outcome of you don't mind me asking?

Yes, I was told they don't do CVS through the cervix in the UK.

Our Harmony Test Results were confirmed and we TFMR.

TheMumblesofMumbledom · 10/08/2020 15:02

Yes mine was done through my stomach. It was made as relaxing as possible, the lights were low and the doctor was very calm and reassuring.

My outcome was all clear, however he is autistic but obviously that can't be picked up.

sleepwhenidie · 10/08/2020 15:06

Yes. And I believe they are always through the tummy. Uncomfortable rather than painful. Memorably, DH (watching the procedure on the screen in the same way as you do with a scan) passed out and slid off his chair, prompting all the medics to Immediately abandon me and fuss over him HmmShock! Even afterwards they seemed more concerned about him than me!!

sleepwhenidie · 10/08/2020 15:07

Oh-results all clear and DD fine.

otterbaby · 10/08/2020 15:10

I'm sorry to hear this. I didn't find it painful at all, just a little bit uncomfortable. I was surprised that it was more of a 'procedure' than I had first realised - drs/nurses were in gowns and masks and they taped off the section of my stomach which felt very clinical.

Keep in mind the needle is massive so you may want to look away if you don't like needles.

A little bit of cramping that day and the next day and I was left with a tiny spot that has now faded (this was Oct 2019).

Unfortunately our results came back with a poor result so we had a TFMR.

Good luck to you x

That's a positive outcome after all :)

My babys NT is 6.5. if you don't mind me asking, what was yours?

I eu was a long time ago now but from memory it was 3.8 but I was an 'older mother' and I have a sibling with Downs so I was deemed high enough risk to be seen the next day and have the cvs done.

Flowerqueensw · 11/08/2020 14:53

I had a CVS a few weeks ago after an NT of 4.2.
It wasn’t too bad, you get local anaesthetic and feel a bit of pressure. I just closed my eyes for the whole thing and it is over fairly quickly. Not much discomfort afterwards.

The results from the array Cgh came back clear so it was very reassuring. Just waiting for my anomaly and heart scans now.

Good luck, it’s such a scary time.

Ren369 · 12/08/2020 10:45

Thanks for all the comments.

So bad another scan today, not good. Baby has deteriorated since Monday, NT was 6.5 now 8. Something, also fluid on tummy and bum.
Best choice is to terminate. (Don't judge, consultant said it has like a 5% chance of being okay).

I'm booked in to go on Saturday. Can anyone who's had a TFMR explain what it's like please!!!!

No judgment here @Ren369. Are you having a surgical or medical termination? I know my hospital performs the surgical up to 14 weeks but I believe its entirely up to you which one you choose if you are within the time frame. Having been through it myself I'm happy for you to pm me if you want xx
