Hi all,

I am wondering if someone could give me some insight on how the NHS works with pregnancies please? I'm not from here so just want to know what to expect! Smile

I just had an initial call with the midwife (I am 5 weeks two days) and I was surprised to learn that I won't get any sort of testing any time soon. In the states you get at least your progesterone and HCG levels checked early on. I been told I will receive a call at the end of the month, and I'll get more info then. Is this normal? Going through pregnancy without checking anything?

Thanks!

Completely normal, they take your word for it that you re pregnant, you ll get a first appointment around 8-10 weeks and then a first scan around 12 weeks (might be a bit different with covid at the moment).

@lmtz there's a rough guide for each appointment here www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/antenatal-appointment-schedule/
