Very small CRL

Hi everyone

I am a first time mum to be and I recently had an early 'first assurance' scan at window to the womb.

There was a heartbeat much to my relief Smile but what I am a bit worried about is they said the CRL (crown to rump length) was 2.7mm. The scan was taken at 6w 3d.

I'm a bit worried as this seems to be very small in comparison to what it should be at this stage as far as I understand!

Thoughts and experiences ladies? X

Thanks @TippingTulips!

I calculated it based on my LMP (April 8th) however I also usually have incredibly irregular periods so maybe my calculated GA is different because I don't have a standard cycle length x

According to Google, "Fetal heart beat can be detected as early as 34 days (just under 6 weeks) gestation on good quality, high frequency transvaginal ultrasound, as a crown rump length (CRL) of as little as 1-2 mm."

It's likely your calculation based on LMP is off by a few days. The fact that you can even hear a heartbeat so early is very positive. Obviously it's impossible to know for sure until you've had another scan to check the growth of the baby, but I don't think you need to be worried.

Thanks @Malysh and @TippingTulips Smile. That is such great information. I had done a lot of reading online but sometimes that can make things worse!

I am calm about the situation now and I have a scan coming up in about 3 weeks....will let you know what they say. I will just keep the positive thoughts going until then when I can see how the baby is doing x
