Hi there,
Does anyone have any experience of this?
It's been 'diagnosed' by a sonographer who works for NHS but at a private 3D scan facility.
My daughter is 30 wks and had the scan at the weekend. She was referred immediately to her local hospital for a consultant scan.
Her baby appears to have two stomachs of equal size separated by a very narrowed channel and she has 11 cm pool of amniotic fluid. She has said previously that the skin across her bump feels as tight as a drum and has not felt the baby hiccough yet.
When the sonographer was taking measurements I could see gestational age values appearing in the corner of the screen which were less than the dates she is now. At her 28 wk midwife appointment she measured 28 wks.

She's been completely blindsided by this news.
Has anyone else has this experience?

I don't know about the two stomachs but I found out at 33 weeks that my baby has oesophageal atresia so will need surgery when he is born. His oesophagus is not attached to his stomach.
I had way too much amniotic fluid, the skin on my stomach felt like it was going to rip open,it was so tight and I had never felt the baby hiccup.
I was measuring normal size up until my 28 week midwife appointment then after that my bump just got huge and uncomfortable.
Quite a lot of times,it's not diagnosed until after birth.
Could be nothing like what we have going on but the things you are saying are very familiar so maybe get checked out that it's not that?

Just to add.
Our baby is also smaller than he should be at this point even though my bump is huge but that's the excess amniotic fluid.

Thank you so much for your input.
My daughter had scan this afternoon with a consultant.
Was told that it is duodenal artresia - baby has 40% chance of DS.
She is having amniocentesis on Wednesday. She has had steroid injection for baby's lungs and has another one booked for tomorrow. She will get the results the following Wednesday.
She is understandably shocked to find this out so late on in pregnancy and her mind is racing at the thought of surgery on the baby immediately after birth. Baby is less than 10th centile. She was also told she is more at risk of premature birth.

This is so similar to my situation so I understand completely. I got to 33 weeks of thinking this is a standard healthy pregnancy then all this happened.
I had an Amnio at 33 weeks to check for chromosome abnormalities and was given steroid injections, kept in hospital overnight and my mind was spinning.
My son will need surgery as soon as he is born too and probably multiple surgeries during his life. and as I am at risk of premature labour due to the excess fluid,I've been scheduled in for a c section at 38+5. I cried for about 2 weeks then it got easier and I realised it's best that we found out now so can be prepared and the hospital can be too. Same for your daughter.
Fingers crossed for your daughter that her Amnio results come back clear.
I am here if she needs to talk x

Thank you so much. You are very kind.
It’ll take some time for her to take in the enormity of the situation - it’s comforting to know there are others going through similar who are prepared to help. So encouraging. So grateful - thank you.

I name changed
This post (double bubble) is my original post.

For anyone searching that term: my daughter's amniocentesis results came back clear. She went into labour at 34 wks (spectacular gush from polyhydramnios) and delivered her 3lb 15oz daughter quite quickly.

Her daughter had surgery the next morning and should have no further problems.

Mum and baby both doing well
