Bleeding

So at the start of the week I went to my local A&E as I was bleeding heavy with clots, I am 7 week today. They took bloods etc and booked me in with early pregnancy to get a scan, everything was fine and where it was suppose to be, doctors had no answer to the bleeding. It’s so on and off and can be heavy then light. I just don’t feel like it’s normal at all. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this ?

Yes @Scamp123. It’s very common, occurring in at least a third of pregnancies from what we can tell. It is especially common in the first trimester and in a vast number of cases, pregnancy continues and a healthy baby is born. Sorry you’ve experienced this though, I know it can be very scary x

Hi, I started bleeding just before my 12 week scan and then it got worse at around 13 weeks. I was still getting it up until being 16 weeks pregnant.
I was obviously extremely worried but kept going back to the early assessment unit and they reassured me that everything was ok. I eventually had an internal scan due to a short cervix and the doctor confirmed I have a polyp and it's nothing to be concerned about.
It still made me feel very anxious throughout but it isn't uncommon xxx

They often don't have an explanation for bleeding, unfortunately, and there's not really anything they will or can do in early pregnancy - they just check to see if there's a viable heartbeat and tell you to rest and see how it goes.

I too started bleeding heavily just before my 12 week scan. No clots at all, but lots of fresh red blood that looked like a period. It was terrifying, but the scan showed the baby is doing fine. There was a big shadow over my placenta - the haematoma that was bleeding. It disappeared in 5 days and I was told it's not that uncommon when the placenta grows and also put on pelvic rest (sex and orgasms can trigger bleeding because of contractions they are causing) for a few weeks and got more frequent scan appointments. I'm now 13w4d and honestly, I constantly worry it will happen again.
