Dyplastic kidney at 20 weeks scan. High risk to Down Syndrome?

We were scanned last week. The sonographer said the left kidney abnormally large, echogenic with possible of cysts or dialted renal calyces. She sent us over to fetal medicine unit for 2nd scan. We did couple days back, the dr said the right kidney is normal, but the left kidney is Dyplastic (unlikely to function after birth) no mentioning of cysts or cause. He also mentioned it's a marker for Down Syndrome. He couldn't rule out if the heart is all clear (awkward position) so has sent us to the 3rd scan at different fetal medicine unit next week. Everything else looks normal.

We are worrying that if LO has high risk in Down Syndrome, so we have opted for NIPT SAFE test done by NHS hospital (NHS one but will need to pay out of pocket) since I don't want any further risks to baby in amnio test. But praying that LO doesn't have Down Syndrome, and the right kidney will be 100% functioning. Anomic fluid and right kidney are normal in the scan so we are hopeful.

Does anyone have 20 weeks scan with kidney issue and linking to Down Syndrome?

Thanks

I don’t have any experience of kidney issues but do have a little one who has Down syndrome. If you needed someone to talk to feel free to send me a PM x

My DD had other soft markers for Down syndrome. Went through fetal medicine, declined an amnio, scanned regularly including detailed heart scans. She was born without Down syndrome. I was an absolute mess in between the anomaly scan and seeing fetal medicine so my thoughts are with you.

thank you. They said I can do NIPT SAFE test done by NHS hospital privately, it''s 99% accurate and no risks to the baby (they will take my blood and extract baby DNA from it). We will have detailed heart scans as well next week, but since I'm 21 weeks, we don't want any further delay.
