Hi All

I’m looking for some mother to mother advice and reassurance. My baby was diagnosed with a Abbarant right subclavian artery at 21 weeks we were told this can sometimes be a soft marker for chromosome abnormality but given harmony test came back low and fetal cardiac scan showed no further abnormality that’s the risk very low. I had a second scan at Fmc centre too for reassurance and they basically said the same that all looks great apart from the ARSA. They have offered an amnio if I want 100% but state that given risk very low they don’t recommend as a risk of miscarriage is potentially higher than the risk of baby having something wrong. I’ve been offered further growth scans but wondered if anyone else’s has had one soft marker the harmony/ NPiT test low and still gone ahead with amnio or just took strength from the blood test? Thanks

Sorry you're going through this OP.
I had various issues with my twin 2 from the first scan at 12 weeks. I was high risk (1:14) Down Syndrome and the other two tested for in UK. Pattau and Edward Syndrome. No concerns with twin 1 at all, all normal. I had NIPT done at 13w which came back very low risk (less than 1:1,000,000) however more scans at Fetal Medicine showed more markers and we were offered amnio. I declined as didn't want to risk the whole pregnancy. Decided to take it scan by scan. I had loads. Anyway by 29w I decided that I just wanted to know for certain what I was dealing with so we could prepare and since the risk changed from miscarriage to preterm labour we went ahead with a third trimester amniocentesis at 29+2. It was all clear and I got to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy (well 4 weeks as I had my twins at 34w) but I'm glad I waited until later on.

I had high combined nhs screening 1:46 for Down’s syndrome.
Then I had low risk harmony

Having had one amnio and two CVS tests (no complications at all from any of these tests), what I would say, if you chose to go ahead with an amnio, is to make sure you know how many are performed per week in your hospital and how many a month/year your consultant performs. Always ask! Unless it's someplace like Queen Charlotte's in London where the consultants deal with all sorts of issues.
The risk of post-amnio MC is low. It's hard to trust the blood tests. Mine were within normal range but I had 3 soft markers, so we chose the amnio. If you want to firmly rule out any trisomies, then the amnio is the best way forward. But your team doesn't sound too worried. I'd be guided by the experts. If your consultant is not keen to perform an amnio, then he/she must feel quite confident that you don't need one. And that is very reassuring. Good luck! It's very worrying for you, I know, but your baby will be well looked after.

@vanguardsic what soft markers did you have?
