Urine sample inconclusive

I went for my booking in appointment last week and the midwife has just rung me to say my urine sample is inconclusive and I need to drop another off next week.

Does anyone know why this might be? Could it mean an infection or anything worse?

Are you very early/did you use a more sensitive pregnancy test like FRER than they would use?
I would take that to mean they didn't get a positive result on their test (maybe didn't dip it long enough or not a sensitive test?)

Give them a ring and ask what exactly was inconclusive for your peace of mind.

I’ve had to repeat my booking in urine sample because it said the sample was potentially contaminated, then had to repeat it again because there were minor signs of an infection but wanted to check before giving antibiotics... could be something like that?

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and have had 2 scans which showed a heartbeat.

I'm really worried now :(

Don’t worry, it’s probably just showing signs of an infection.
My miswife doesn’t test for pregnancy anyway, definitely not at the booking appointment.
Just repeat the sample.

If your 10 weeks and have had scans ignore my earlier comment, it wouldn't be showing up negative.
Most likely a contaminated sample - that's why they ask for midstream apparently as the first bit can have bacteria from your skin etc as it comes out. I had to redo a later test for that reason and they said it was a contaminated sample.

I'd still give them a ring to clarify probably, just so you don't have it on your mind for the next week.

Why don't you just phone her to clarify?

Sweetiepooh · 21/06/2018 18:53

The line is only open from 8.30-9.30 everyday so I can't ring until the morning
