combined NT Results

Just wondered if anyone had some experience in this area.
In my first pregnancy my combined test results came back very low risk, something like 1 in 10000 for all three conditions.
Three years later im 31 and 13 weeks pregnant, and my results have come back technically low risk at 1 in 245 for downs and 1 in 10000 for both Edward's and Pataus. The downs result doesnt reasure me unfortuantly as it seems quite high to me. Ive probably done the wrong thing and done lots of googling and am now even more concerned about my blood results:
BHcg 3mom (is really high apparently)
Pap a is 0.7 (bit low)
Nt 2.3 ( which is the higher end of normal, according to some sources)

It's terrified me, I have today paid for an IONA test through my local hospital. I spoke to the fetal care midwife who didn't really reasure saying my hcg is really high but they use lots of factors to generate a risk factor. So I don't know if I'm being way over the top but I can't stop my anxiety. Does anyone have any similar experiences?
Tyi

1 in 245 is a lot less than a 1% chance?! It’s a low “risk” result, your chance of having a child with Down syndrome will be higher due to your age. Even at 1 in 10000 there is still the chance that you could be the one!
Hope your IONA test gives you peace of mind x

I know, when concerted to percentage it seems much better. my bloods however are quite abnormal which is why I'm worried. A few years ago in the UK and still in many other countries high risk was up to 1 in 250. I'm an anxious person so to me 1 in 245 doesn't cone across low risk. Trying to stop worrying, I hope the next week goes quickly

If you were told you had 1% chance of winning the lottery would you think that was a high chance Wink
Try not to worry, I had a postnatal diagnosis of T21 following the birth of my baby last year and he’s amazing! Best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy x

I had a very low risk for DC1 (I think it was 1 in 50,000), then two years later I was given a 1 in 200 risk for DC2. While technically classed as low risk, like you I found this worrying, so I had an amniocentesis (all was fine). So I don’t think you are being OTT, personally. Good luck with the results.

Thanks for your reply Cadencia. Glad all turned out well for you. Did they offer you the amnio at that risk, or did you have to push for it? X

I had this exact same thing happen to me and I panicked and paid for a harmony test. All was fine - no Downs. Just seemed to have high hcg for some reason. I think in a few years they will offer everyone harmony or similar because the combined test can be really confusing. Best of luck.

I had to ask for the amnio, it was not offered to me, but when I asked I was given one on the NHS (as my risk level was close enough to the borderline of what was considered high risk).

That's for your reply minialpha, that's reassuring. Glad all turned out well for you

Hi Devon 123,
I have been in a similar situation recently, my odds for downs were 1:169. I was told this was low risk and not to worry however it didn’t seem very low to me! I paid to have the harmony test done privately which unfortunately for me came back high risk for downs, then confirmed by amnio. I have, however seen that some people have much higher odds with NT such as 1:4 and their babies have been fine.
Try not to worry, I know the waiting is like torture.
Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you for your reply Bunty. Sorry you went through that. I've just received my result, and thankfully they are low risk. I'm very grateful x
