Harmony or standard NHS tests?

If money wasn’t really an issue, would you have the Harmony test and Nuchal Scan privately at the FMC or would you stick with the NHS Combined test followed by SAFE test if you get a high risk result from Combined test (this is offered by my Trust)? Worried I am overcomplicating things with the FMC option and NHS didn’t sound keen on using private scan results and I don’t want to be poked and prodded more than I need to be (definitely don’t want to have to have 2 x screening bloods and 2 x Nuchal scans and also would never be able to explain this to work!). What to do?

I had a combined screening test done under NHS last week (12 weeks) at same time as dating ultrasound. Got letter in post today asking to call to discuss results. Am guessing it’s because it came back high risk. Am 40 and this is my first baby. Don’t really want invasive amnio or CVS. Would Harmony be a better option? Not sure if I can get it on the NHS but happy to go private otherwise. Really want certainty but don’t want to risk a miscarriage. Thanks for advice!

Hi @user1512465920 I’m sorry that you’re going through this. The NHS Combined test isn’t very accurate so a “high risk” result doesn’t necessarily mean there’s anything wrong. In my trust the NHS will offer you Harmony if you do have a high risk result (NHS call it something different - SAFE, I think). Harmony / SAFE etc are just a blood test so no miscarriage risk. See what they say and good luck, thinking of you x

Hi @KTD27 thanks for your well wishes. I had the Harmony test results back today and all low risk. So relieved!
