Where in London for Harmony test?

With our previous two children, I had nuchal scan and bloods at the FMC. Is that still the best place to go to for Harmony or somewhere else?

Also I'm only 4.5 weeks, will be have an early scan at 6 weeks, so would I be best to wait until I have that before booking the Harmony? Do they get very booked up in advance?

Thanks

FMC do a package for £400 which includes a scan at 10 weeks, just before they take the bloods for the harmony (if it turns out you have mmc'd they only charge for the scan), then private nuchal scan plus harmony results at 12 weeks. And if you get a positive for the harmony it includes a private Cvs at the clinic too. best value I've found and they are the experts too.

So I'd say - FMC and book in to have early scan and bloods taken at 10 weeks.

Thank you that's really helpful, feel very wary of booking too many things after two losses, but I'll call them on Monday. X

My experience at FMC was second to none, couldn't recommend it more highly

I also had a very good experience at the FMC and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

That's great, they were fab for my Nuchals too so will go there again.

We went to FMC and thought it was really good value.

When you have the FMC within reachable distance, it's almost pointless going somewhere else unless there's a very specific reason! It remains the forefront of fetal medicine research in the UK. The only exception would be if you're at Kings on the NHS as it's the same people, or UCLH as they're very good as well and I think also trialling Harmony?

I always feel like I'm dealing with a human interface to PubMed when I'm there Grin Every question answered without needing to trawl through research!

Yes I agree Crispy, I'd seen Kings College mentioned so I didn't know if that was another option.

Quite a few of the big london hospitals are doing a trial whereby you get offered the harmony for free if your risk results from the nhs nuchal scan are higher than 1:1000. I am pretty sure Kings, UCL and St George's are running this trial. Other big hospitals might be too, you could ask. So if you're with one of these hospitals you might want to wait and see what your nhs scan odds come up with and maybe you'd get the harmony for free that way. The only downside really to this approach is having to wait the extra 2 weeks.

The Harmony test is a brand name, other brand names exist eg nifty I think and poss some others but they are all the same test so it's not like the FMC harmony is "better" than the nhs harmony - they should be exactly the same. Though the FMC nuchal scan is more detailed than the NHS nuchal scan.

Yep, had it done at the FMC 5 weeks ago and their 12w scan was very detailed and really good.

Wasn't impressed with the woman who scanned me at 10w on the first scan, but the rest of the experience was very good

I don't live in London but that's my nearest location for Harmony. I've got an early scan at 6+2 next weeks, then I'll book the Harmony. Thanks
