Downs risk

Hi,
With my first child I was given a downs risks of 1in 5! Luckily after having a cvs we found out everything was ok and he was fine. Just wondering if anyone knew if having a high risk in first pregnancy would mean my risk would be high in a second pregnancy? Currently ttc and all I can think about is having to go through that again.
Thanks x

No idea but can you speak to your local hospital or a genstist xx

Downs Syndrome is not hereditary, so there will be no increased risk for your next pregnancy, apart from the usual factors (age etc.), the risk will be calculated independently.

Thanks for the help Smile

I think your screening result could potentially be higher as they do tick a box on the screening form if you have had a previous pregnancy affected by Down syndrome. My consultant mentioned something called an 'age priori' risk? So it is factored in when calculating a result.

I would advise to contact the charity ARC to talk things through.

Oh sorry I read your post wrong, if your baby didn't actually turn out to be affected your screening result shouldn't be affected
