NHS and low PAPP A?

Hi all,
I just had my 12 week scan results back and they have given me a low risk 1 in 390) which I am thankful for. However, my PAPP A is 0.31 and I think this might be making my risk higher than it should be for my age. Anyway, nothing has been mentioned on the letter which is a standard one.

Does the NHS care about low PAPP A or is it something that only gets talked about if you are under private care? Will my midwife look at me blankly if I mention it at my 16 week appointment? All I know about it is through extensive googling which is the sort of thing a worry wort like me shouldn't do....

Annoyingly, I can't remember what my results were for DS otherwise I could compare.

They should offer you a growth scan at 28-30 weeks for values under 0.4MoM. I had one on the NHS due to my 0.23MoM, but I don't think I ever gave them a chance to offer it as I asked about it first and the consultant was agreeable. I was already under consultant care though.

If you're not under consultant care you should raise the issue with your midwife - they may well decide that makes you a consultant-led care case, or they may be able to refer you for the scan themselves, I am not sure.

You shouldn't have any problems but maybe if you can find some research and bring it in with you just in case to a future appointment?

For what it's worth, I was told I had a 1 in 5 risk with my number of there being a growth issue. And that as I make big babies (over 95th percentile) chances are if the growth issue did occur, I'd make a normal size baby. I made a normal size baby Grin

Thank you Crispy. That is reassuring! I am not under a consultant but perhaps I will be now. I read tonnes of scary things on the internet.
