Cost of a private CVS?

I got my NT and blood results yesterday, and they came back as 1:98. Not shockingly high, but a shock for us!
The next NHS appt is next Wednesday, and I'm struggling with having to wait a week, then the 2 week wait for results on top of that.
Has anyone had a private CVS done, and how much was it, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm sorry to hear about your worry! I was stunned when I got 1 in 65 with my last pregnancy (reduced to 1 in 34 after a more detailed NT screen, ugh) DS has typical chromosomes, but we waited it out as I was unwilling to do invasive testing - that's a very very personal choice and no judgement on what others do as we all deal with things in our own way.

CVS range in price from around £200-£400 I think - I'm sure others will be along shortly with a better idea. If you're intent on getting one done, make sure you research the doctor who will be doing it. For instance you'd be in very good hands at the Fetal Medicine Centre especially if you go the professor himself to do it. But some places, less so.

Have you considered Harmony? It's non-invasive and will give you odds of 1 in 10000 or 1 in 2, nothing in between. Annoyingly it does take two weeks to come back, but there is no risk to the baby. The cost is around £400-£600 depending on where you go.

I think my clinic charges between £500 and £600 for one (I got mine free with a negative harmony result)

AliBingo · 21/08/2013 09:06

Er, negative as in bad so I actually meant positive I guess.

Thanks ladies.
The FMU rang this morning to say they could fit me in on Friday, so we're going for that Smile

That's good. Good luck. You have a 97 in 98 chance all will be fine.

Good luck! I am sure it will all be fine Smile Let us know the result!
