Can anyone recommend a highly experienced obstetrician to perform a c -Section?

It can be private preferably able to deliver in an nhs hospital.

I have had 5 c sections all in Canada and 1 in uk in 2010.i brought my surgical notes from thd last c section from Canada and it said virtually no adhesions. Also during my last pregnancy here in uk they looked at my scar during ultrasound and it was all ok.

I am 10 weeks pregnant now and during a scan at the early pregnancy unit the doctor told me my Caesarian scar was deficient and thin and he showed me the black areas on the screen. This had really worried me.

I can only conclude that my last c section here in uk, that thd uterus wasn't repaired properly.after having 5 in Canada by the same excellent ob I can only conclude it was the obstetrician here's workmanship.it was performed at a teaching hospital and a regustrar assisted.

It means I am high risk now so really want an ob who totally knows what they are doing .
Any advice on the state of my c section scar , possible causes, and a recommendation of a good ob would be greatly appreciated.

Where in the country are you?

There's a consultant at St. Thomas' in London that is excellent but I can't remember her first name now Confused, her surname is definitely Patel though.

I don't know much about your scar, so can't really help there, but isn't it quite common for the scar to become much weaker with repeat c-sections and you've had 6 already which is quite a high number although it can vary from woman to woman.

Hmm, I think that maybe the problem is die to the amount of time your uterus has been cut as opposed to it not being done properly. Every time the lower segment is cut through it will always become thinner. Our unit advises 4 cs maximum actually.

I'd say if you are under consultant care at present (assuming so due to prev cs) then at section consultant SHOULD be present, they certainly are here for anyone with a thin lower segment or over 3 previous cs.

You could always also ask for a MRI scan that can measure the lower segment later in pregnancy, this helps with decision making and it may be that your cs is a little earlier than later if found to be thin.

Good luck Smile

Sailesh Kumar at Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital is an excellent Obstetrician. Either way, he would be a good person to speak to.

FondleWithCare - was it Dr Roshni Patel? If yes, please could you share your experience with her?
PigeonPair - I was considering Dr Sailesh as well. Please could you share your experience?
Ladyinweighting - sorry to hear about your earlier experience. Hope you have a better one this time. All the best!

I agree with the above, the weakness in your uterus is due to repeated lscs rather than a poor operation but you should still find someone you're comfortable with. An MRI could be useful but ANY teaching hospital in London ( in which I have worked in 3) would have a consultant present at your El Lscs. Only 2 hospitals that I know of have nhs/private combined, Chelsea and Westminster and St Mary's Paddington. Lots of other consultants work out of the Portland but do NHS elsewhere- I'd recommend Chrissie Yu who works privately at St Mary's and now at the NHS. Good luck

PinheadAdya- Roshni Patel is an obstetrician at the Kensington Wing. She was my obstetrician and really brilliant. Very attentive, caring and pays attention to details. She's also very experienced and has done a lot of caesareans.

She's always comes across as friendly and helpful and I know a few friends she has delivered and we all feel the same way.

Ladyinweighting- Regarding choosing a hospital, I would choose somewhere with other back up facilities. Lindo or Kensington Wing. I'm no expert but having 6 lots of major surgery previously sounds like quite a high risk. Good luck.

You will find generally the rule is that OBs will advise no more than 4 CS so I agree that is most likely the cause of your troubles.
A colleague had Mr Miskry at the Lindo - she had complications after her first EMCS so hers was a high risk ELCS and he specialises in that (although I am sure any of the OBs on here would be competent in that - they are all very experienced, have done a lot of CS). She was very happy with his care and the result. Good luck.
