I am 6 days late. I CANNOT be 6 days late

The last time I was this late was when I was PG with DS.

I cannot go through another PG. I cannot have another baby. I am sounding harsh and simplistic because I know this can't happen.

If you've had an abortion, what have the recovery times been? Because I'm thinking this is pretty much a certain outcome I'm trying to plan and think about pain, and work and looking after my DC

Can anyone help?

How about doing a test to find out if you're actually pregnant before you start panicking.

Muppa · 04/10/2010 23:43

I can't afford to Serial. Although, do chemists still do free tests?

Yes I think so. You can also get pregnancy tests for about a quid these days from pound shop / wilkinsons type places.

Muppa · 04/10/2010 23:54

Thanks Serial. Shall go to the chemists tmrw.

I literally have nothing till payday (as in I'm not sure how I'm going to but food for DS) so a PG test will be low down on the shopping list

I am really just needing to know really what the recovery time is? Because its very likely I am PG and v likely I will not be able to go through with it

Sorry you're so distressed. I don't think recovery time physically, would be a huge issue.

You would probably be fine by next day. I hope you have some RL support for this.

Muppa, no-one but you is going to be able to predict if you're pregnant or not - you need to test and then look at your options.

If you are considering termination, then earlier the better in terms of pain / physical symptoms etc.

differentnameforthis · 05/10/2010 05:27

I had a termination under GA a while ago.

I had it done on the Friday & was physically able to look after my dcs on the Saturday.

flimflammery · 05/10/2010 06:08

Muppa: hope you don't need this, but look at this website for info on abortion.

NKinDXB · 05/10/2010 06:18

Agree with PlanningCommittee. Do the test first to be sure. Your doctor can do a free pregnancy test, or try a family planning clinic if you don't want to go to your own GP: www.fpa.org.uk/Findaclinic

If you are pregnant get an appointment as soon as possible as this makes everything much more straightforward. Recovery shouldn't be a problem at all.

The FPA website will have lots of good information. So does www.mariestopes.org.uk (I used to work there) although it's a private clinic.

Don't stress. And you don't sound harsh - just realistic, doing what you think is best for you and your DCs x

If you are absolutely sure, the sooner you get it sorted out, the better.

Pre 9 weeks, you have a choice of a medical termination which gives the equivalent of really bad period pain and heavy bleeding for one day and general achiness for a bit after that.

Or under GA, less pain but the anaesthetic can leave you groggy for a day or so.

The hormone fluctuations might make you feel weepy and washed out for a while too.

You aren't being harsh. You sound stressed out and in need of some support, that's all. Don't underestimate the emotional side, make the most of whatever support you are offered. I hope you get sorted quickly.

Hi Muppa.

The recovery time is very short, but mentally it can take a long time to come to terms with it.

Did you do a test today?
