Elective c section guilt

I opted to have an elective c section due to extreme anxiety in my pregnancy following two miscarriages and health scares throughout. As I had mild polyhydramosis, this was scheduled for 38+2 but it was still an elective as the consultant was happy for me to go longer with extra monitoring

i found the c section quite difficult but my baby is now in NICU for breathing issues and I can’t help but think it’s my fault for choosing to have a c section. The situation hasn’t been helped but being stuck on the post natal ward surrounded by everyone and their babies whilst mine is in NICU :(

anyone had anything similar?

Not exactly the same, but I found c section recovery a bit tricky and was also separated from my babies - preemie twins born at 34 weeks. I found it very tough being alone (during Covid) and hearing everyone else with their babies. Cried several times - probably very awkward for the other ladies! Very lovely trainee midwife brought me a cuppa whenever she had a quiet moment. It helped a bit. Do you have anyone with you?

Don’t feel guilty. I had an elective for DD. She was fine but I was having panic attacks all the way through the pregnancy after three miscarriages between DS and DD. I can’t imagine how much you must ache to hold your baby. It will come ❤️ Congratulations. So much more precious after rainbow babies x

Thanks everyone! Luckily been transferred to a private room so already feeling a lot calmer and baby is off oxygen so hoping he will be discharged tomorrow
