Does Sertraline get rid of intrusive thoughts?

I have been on sertraline for 3 months now for postnatal anxiety/depression. As a whole things are so much better my mood is good I have the odd low day and the intrusive thoughts have started to fade on some days but others they are very loud and ruin my day.

anyone who has been on sertraline did it eventually stop your intrusive thoughts completely and how long did it take for them to go away?

really hoping that one day the thoughts of my baby dying will no longer haunt me.

I think it's maybe time to talk to your GP about whether you need some Talking Therapy alongside the medication or it's worth trying a different medication?

Had the HV put you in touch with any local support and have you spoken to the PANDAS Foundation? Flowers

If it has been 3 months I would go back to your GP. You might need to try something else.

Take care. It's tough.

Thank you both. I do talk therapy which helps a lot. This week just seems to be a tough week to be honest. Not sure if it’s because my little one has started rolling in his sleep which makes me extremely anxious.
Like I said on the whole things are a lot better than they were three months ago it’s just the intrusive thoughts haunting me and making me feel so guilty.

It helped a friend of mine but she seemed flat all the time. She's doing better on Venlafaxine.

Sorry - should say not related to postnatal depression or anxiety in her case.

So glad that you have therapy and the thoughts are getting better. I still think it might be time to revisit the medication discussion with your GP though.

Have you explored your feelings of guilt with your therapist?

@PolaroidPrincess yeah guilt comes up a lot in each session. I think a lot of line stems from two miscarriages and traumatic birth and I’m almost convinced something is going to happy to my perfect little boy.
