Scared about midwife support ending

I have had extended midwife care due to worsening anxiety in pregnancy. The midwife care ends this week as I am nearly a month PP.

I am so scared about going it alone now. I am on a waiting list for therapy but that will be just 6 sessions.

I feel like I can't go it alone and am terrified of what I do if things aren't going well. I've had a month of an amazing midwife visiting and also calling weekly and really holding my hand through this.

Once your midwife discharges you from their services, a health visitor will take over, so you won't be alone, they also do home visits, can call to check in.
Do you know your health visitor or how to access their support?
Might also be worth looking at local baby groups, try to find yourself some friends who are going through the same struggles, you can support each other

Sorry you’re going through this.
Can you ask your midwife if they can recommend charities that could support you?

have you shared this concern with your midwife?

I shared the concern and she said the health visitor will see me. I met the health visitor previously and didn't find her particularly helpful.

I almost miss pregnancy and being in hospital as I felt so much more looked after. I feel like my mental health is not in a place it is easy to completely be left to it. The midwife was giving me lots of reassurance and a chance to talk through worries briefly which just kept me in a slightly better place knowing someone was there. I feel a bit embarrassed I feel this way, like I'm a grown adult and should be able to do this.

I have a good antenatal group from NCT who I see but don't feel I can be honest with them about mental health. We talk about struggles and realities of new babies but on a surface level.

I understand how scary this is but a midwife isn't the right person going forwards. They're amazing but they're trained more for pregnancy and newborns. You are now transitioning to the next caring level. Please see your GP again and explain your worries. You need strong support but you might have to push for her, or someone like your partner might need to push.
Go to the baby groups, see other babies and parents. Be honest with the Health Visitor about your mental state.
You can do this.
