So I’ve been prescribed 50mg Sertraline for PND and anxiety. I know it gets worse before it gets better. Any success stories gratefully received x

Going on sertraline 2.5 months ago has really changed my life. I feel like my old self, I struggled with post natal anxiety and then health anxiety for 3 years without medication and had forgotten what normal felt like, I wish I’d gone on it years ago!
Like you I was very worried to start, my anxiety got a little worse for about a week but then I started to feel better. By two weeks I felt really a lot better and by 6 weeks amazing!
I just noticed this thread is a couple of weeks old, I hope you have gotten on ok with them.

Hi ladies.

I’m picking up my prescription for this tomorrow, and feel nervous. How have use gotten on with this medication? What were the side affects etc? Have use experienced any weight gain?

Miracleasap · 19/05/2024 19:33

I've been taking this a few weeks. I've had no symptoms. Good luck OP.

I was on it for a year. It worked within 2 days and the only side effect I had was the jaw clenching. I came off it slowly over 2 months and the jaw clenching stopped. It was extremely effective for me.

I've been taking it since 2016.

From memory I didn't have any side effects when I started taking it, however I do feel strange when I accidentally miss a dose. Kind of a lightheaded feeling whenever I move around.

Nothing to worry about, you'll be fine. Just be consistent when taking it. Same time each day.

Thank you for your reply 😊 I just need something to stop my my constantly going into over drive, I just want to feel normal. When do you take your tablet?

SCheesee · 20/05/2024 09:48

@SabbatWheel I’m so glad it’s worked for you! I’m picking up my prescription later on and going in with a positive attitude. Only thing that worries me is the clenching of the jaw.. I’m awaiting surgery for bilateral lock jaw and jaw displacement so I’m in so much pain with that. I do take regular cocodamol. Did the jaw clenching settle for you? Xx

@notasillysausage I’m so happy to hear this has worked for you, it makes me feel positive going into this 😊 we fly to Majorca on the 14th of June so hoping I’m feeling a little better for then! My mind is just constantly in overdrive, always thinking of what I need to do next, I can never fully relax so if this works it’ll be a god send. Can I ask what time of the day you take it? And have you experienced any weight gain? Xx

SCheesee · 20/05/2024 09:51

@Miracleasap so chuffed for you! 😁 are you feeling better with every week that passes? I’m excited for this journey, going to try and not overthink it and just go in to it with a positive mind set xx

Picked up my prescription girls! Taking first dose in the morning :) do use take morning or night?

Bluee1420 · 20/05/2024 18:03

I've been taking sertraline since 2019, it's been pretty effective for me. I find it easier for me to be a mum while taking them too. I take mine in the morning, although my mother in law and grandmother take them at night. Morning is best for me. I hope these work for you. sending love and hugs

Theunamedcat · 20/05/2024 18:04

If I recall correctly it made me feel nauseous for the first couple of days then that vanished my only issue I had was it aggravated my restless legs and magnesium sorted that

summerisnearlyhere · 20/05/2024 18:10

It made me feel more anxious and panicky for about a week, and a bit like morning sickness. But then it subsided.

But coming off it was a different matter. Gave me constant watery stools whilst I decreased my dose and for about a fortnight after I'd stopped taking it altogether. Not fun!
