Low lying placenta

I’m 29 weeks pregnant I have been told I have a low lying placenta. I had a bleed at 25 weeks and another at 28 weeks. I was discharged from hospital yesterday and now I’ve got light pink bleeding again. I’m just curious if anyone else has had a low lying placenta how things turned out for you?

I had one but didn't know until I started bleeding at 37 weeks. I bled heavily and they were going to do a CS but I then started contracting. Stopped contracting then induced. That didn't work so they gave me a day off before doing a sweep. No change so I had a caesarean in the end. DD perfectly fine and now 18!

Were you allowed to have a normal delivery or did it have to be a c section? I know it depends on how low the placenta is on what way you have to birth baby!

Bled at 27 weeks. Stayed in hospital til birth at 34 weeks. Emergency caesarean section. SCBU for 5 weeks. All ok now years later.

What was your reason for c section at 34 weeks if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve been admitted back in again, only 29 weeks but this is the third bleed in three weeks so definitely getting worried about everything.

I had my first bleed at 27 weeks and then several more and after a huge bleed at 32 weeks my baby was born by emergency c section and in SCBU for 3 weeks. I don’t mean to scare you but I wasn’t really prepared that DD would arrive early (put my head in the sand really) and I wish I’d been a bit more mentally prepared.

Did you have to have emergency c section after your big bleed at 32 weeks? Definitely a scary time, I dread going to the toilet incase there’s more bleeding. Really wish I was full term now so baby could be here safely❤️

Yes I had an emergency c section; DD was always fine but it was me losing so much blood that was at risk and then obviously if my health is at risk that would have had a secondary impact on her.
I remember that fear very well. My best advice is to focus on taking one day at a time and that’s one day more that your baby has stayed safe inside you.

I had placenta previa, fully covering with my first. Had a small bleed at 32 weeks which led to a 2 night hospital stay and steroids just in case. They told me if I bled again I was to call an ambulance, not get a taxi to the hospital like I had! I then worked to 38 weeks without further issues. Regular scans but placenta stayed covering. We were booked in for a c-section at 38+5, but at 38+2 I had a big bleed at home (I think my waters went and were full of blood) and got an ambulance in. Monitored and given a drip then a few hours later I had a c-section. They had blood on standby in case I needed it but I didn't. We were in hospital for 3 nights. My son is 7 now and perfectly fine. This time round I have anterior placenta but nowhere near cervix so hoping for a vbac.

I’m sure that was a difficult time for you! It’s definitely not easy. I’ve been given steroids this morning so at least that will help baby if baby comes early. Just hoping baby wants to stay out for awhile longer. Did any of yous have any pain when bleeding? I get cramping and back pain and then when the bleeding settles the pain settles! Altho doctor had said there shouldn’t be any pain

Sorry missed this. Had a massive bleed at 34 weeks and they thought it best he came out. All good now. He is 27. Touch and go for a bit but after a few days he was ok. In SCBU for a month.

I had this and was scanned regularly. When I got to 36 weeks I was told that the placenta had moved enough for me to give birth vaginally. My first two were born in two hours, but I had a difficult labour lasting two days with this one as she couldn't get into a good position for birth, as the placenta was reducing the space for her head to descend. My midwife was a natural birth fanatic and let me go through agony, just gas and air for pain relief. I so wish that I could have had a c section.

I had a low lying placenta and now have a 19 day old!
I got told about it at my 20 week scan and was told it would most likely move. I was then rescanned at 32 weeks and it had moved but not enough so I was then rescanned again at 36 weeks.
At the 36 week scan the placenta had not moved, it fact it had got more in the way! I had a c-section at 38 weeks as they didn’t want to risk me going into labour. I didn’t have a choice with the c-section and was initially disappointed that it hadn’t moved, but actually I had a really positive experience, baby is here and well and I’m recovering well. The only issue I had was blood loss at the birth. They had blood on stand-by and I had in two canulas so that if needed they could get blood into me quicker.
