Hi,

My partner is suffering from baby blues/postnatal depression (if it isn't postnatal depression then it is headed that way).

We face sadly found the midwifery team who have visited us to be less than helpful with this issue with lots of 'dont worry, you'll get through it' like comments. My partner has suffered from depression before so knows what it is like and what the warning signs are and is not convinced she will 'just get through it'. Sadly it this is also affecting her ability to bond with our baby and she is getting anxious when it comes to breastfeeding, and then when the baby doesn't latch or decides to have a meltdown, it sadly affects my partner as well which usually leads to the heartbreaking sight of her crying with a screaming baby on her lap - I do what i can but I can't take away the sadness or anxiety.

As we haven't had much luck with the midwifery team, does anyone have any positive

services which have helped them out of the hole that this horrible affliction put them in.

I was also in this place and left completely unsupported for 11 months. Having never need depressed before I was unaware of the signs. I would suggest visiting your gp as mine was the beginning of me getting better. My health visitor was not helpful at all but maybe have a chat with them too. The worst thing to do is to ignore it and hope for the best. It could be baby blues which will pass but it could be PND so definitely get some medical help

Could you ask your health visitor if there is a perinatal mental health team in your area? They were a great help to me
