First time mum - inlaw visit

Baby is a week old. Inlaws want to visit and sleep on the couch, flat is tiny, what should I do?

Also dp's other family are all telling me when they'll visit, not asking me.

Dp arranges things with others then just tells me as if it's a done deal without consulting me. How do I tackle this?

Lastly, inlaws already getting overinvolved and telling me their opinions on feeding, car seats, etc., how do I politely tell them to butt out?

Sounds difficult, can you not talk to your partner.

Explain your feelings and that it might be a bit too much right now.

As for advice they are giving you will get this forever, take all advice and say "thank you, I'll think about it".

Sit him down and tell him that you really do understand how excited and proud he is... but you are utterly knackered, emotional, physically bruised and tired. You want to find a way of being at ease with the baby and that does not include being able to cope with his puppy dog excitement.

He probably isn't trying to be a pillock, you need to tell him he is being a bit OTT and you both need to be happy and in agreement, or one of you will be so very tired she they may snap and be inadvertently rude to a visitor she they did not agree to host!

Let them see their grandchild but they must stay elsewhere as you need some space. Just smile politely when advice offered and ignore if you wish
