It means I don't feel the need to go out into the horrid, sweaty heat 'to make the most of it' and end up spending money which is so non existent it may as well be imaginary.

Ds has gone out on the bus with dp whilst dd is mooching and flicking between spongebob and horrible histories.

I'm mooching on me bed having smugly completed a shedload of cleaning whilst my joiner fits me a new door.

Too right Ryoko.

I might have to move north in protest. But I don't think I could stand the rain, and actual real cold in winter...

Ryoko · 10/07/2010 16:37

I love the cold, I love the snow, what I don't like is when that snow turns to ice and they never grit the pavements round here.

ifancyashandy · 10/07/2010 16:47

I want it to get HOTTER!! [grin}

ifancyashandy · 10/07/2010 16:47

hmmmmm

StealthPolarBear · 10/07/2010 16:50

YANBU
we have been to an adventure playground, as we did last weekend. Last weekend i desperately tried to find shade to sit in while bellowing HAT at ds and worrying about him burning.
Today i sat and relaxed on a bench while he burned off loads of energy. when it drizzled we went to look at the animals. when it poured down we came home & he's now watching a guilt free film with DH!
I love this weather!

BaronessBomburst · 10/07/2010 17:17

37+ here in Holland. Too hot. Garden is scorched to a cinder even with daily watering. Over 30 degrees in the house too and we've got sunshades or shutters on all the windows - and don't get me started on the mosquitoes! We all sleep with nets by night but they still bite by day. Grrr

BaronessBomburst · 10/07/2010 17:19

And it's too flippin hot to breast feed! We both end up in a gooey sweaty stuck together mess.

Oblomov · 10/07/2010 17:22

Too hot here. have our annual fair. everyone left after a bit because the sunshine and the heat was just too much. i sit here typing with my feet in the paddling pool and a glass of rose. tis the only way, i tell you.

Lynli · 10/07/2010 17:23

It is horrible hot here. School doesn't finish until the 22nd.

ApocalypseCheese · 10/07/2010 17:26

Sea breeze too (can see the sea from my window.

Ah

All the 'greenery' should be renamed yellowy round here. Even the massive old silver birches are dying.

How on the earth the wildlife is surviving with no water whatsoever around is beyond me. Even the deep watering holes in the forests have dried up.

I find it so stressful worrying about the wildlife and trees etc.

And how are we going to have hay for winter when the grass is dead and not growing.

Rain please please please please.

Squitten · 10/07/2010 18:04

I hate this heat. I'm 19wks pregnant and have a toddler to run around after and it's too hot to move.

Thankfully, we're going to Ireland tomorrow where it's scheduled to rain for about 5 days with temps around 15 degrees - I've never been so glad to belong to a nation with such hideous weather

UndomesticHousewife · 10/07/2010 18:24

It is so cold here and has been pouring with rain all day, I have put the heating on. Don't want 30+ degrees, but a little bit of warmth would be nice considering it's July.

UndomesticHousewife · 10/07/2010 18:25

Squitten, you'll be so glad to get to Ireland you're right the weather is hideous!

Rockbird · 11/07/2010 00:01

Yay I'm off to Ireland on Monday. My mother is there and said it is indeed chucking it down but is slightly humid at the same time. Sorry for my poor cousin who will be getting married in pissing rain but hey, at least I'll be cooler.

ifancyashandy · 11/07/2010 00:30

I refer you to my earlier post GRINCHES

Is scheduled to be 30 odd here tomorrow (today) and I am DELIGHTED!!

SkiHorseWonAWean · 11/07/2010 04:32

38 here is southern holland, it was 32.5 inside the house.

I have a newborn and am recovering from emcs + pre-eclampsia. I'm thinking of checking in to a hotel so I can cuddle my baby without cooking the both of us.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 11/07/2010 04:37

Baroness - about bf'ing. I'm so glad you said that - I've been in tears, as has my son during early evening feeds due to this. I've got blisters and he's got a rash. I cheated yesterday and expressed for that feed - the diehards might disapprove but it saved a lot of heartache yesterday. Snowworld are doing a 2 night package for 69 euros pp inc. breakfast...

Oblomov · 11/07/2010 05:19

well, as you can see, i'm up at the crack of dawn. and its warm already. think we're going to have another scorcher on our hands. am re-filling paddling pool currently, at 5 am (!!) ( most of it got emptied out, due to too much splashing and laughter yesterday.)

Mittz · 11/07/2010 05:36

If you use a fan at all, put a large bowl of ice behind the mechanism as this cools the air down a little instead of just circulating the warm air..

Hands and feet in cold water help reduce overheating.

As I get older it bothers me less, I am lucky.

We do need rain, I walk my daughter to school a mile each way, each day, and if we have been rained on a dozen times in the last year, that is about it.

hippopo · 11/07/2010 06:15

I am a few days over due and live in London and am finding this heat unbearable. Although I am a summer of'76 baby which was also v hot so maybe this is my punishment

I keep looking at weather report for rain and am convinced I will go into labour during a thunder storm (or a least some nice rain).
