to think that such a high profile media and police hunt for Raul Moat is dangerous

It worries me that he is gong to become increasingly desperate to evade the police and feel he has no way out and nothing to lose by harming more and more people.

He is obviously a dangerous man who needs to be found but surely it would be safer to just have a discreet but thorough police hunt for him.

I have visions of him taking hostages or a shoot out with police.

Well he did the inevitable and killed himself. These elaborate suicides always go the same way... Disgruntled nobody takes his inadequacies and imagined grievances out on (random strangers/particular group/individuals he doesn't like) after writing lengthy boring suicide notes or making lengthy boring suicide video on 'why this is all someone else's fault'.

Good riddance, I say

stillbumbling · 10/07/2010 07:18

Seems to me to be an incredibly sad story from beginning to end.

Scout19075 · 10/07/2010 07:53

I feel sorry for not only the those he shot and their families, but all involved in searching for him. And this will probably be unpopular, but I feel incredibly sad for him (the gunman) and his family as well.

May all involved be able to find some peace.

I am sickened to see the news actually straining to try and get footage of his death.

Whatever he did anf however vile a human he was this was still a mans death.

He obviously had a troubled mental state and yet the media are acting like vultures over a kill.

it is all incredibly distastefull.

I agree Gigantur about the media. My thought this morning was that they get erections over shit like this.

Nancy66 · 10/07/2010 20:11

I also think the huge media coverage was a mistake - not because it put him under pressure but because he was clearly enjoying the fame and attention.

the whole thing was really awful

Surely a mother should never give up on her son, whatever he's done? When she spoke pubicly, he had no one and nothing left to live for.
